The invention relates to a drive device (7) for a single-phase sychronous motor (1), especially for small domestic apparatuses, for example tin openers, citrus-fruit squeezers, dry razors and trimming combs. The drive device works on an implement shaft, which acts as the load, such as a transportation gear wheel, a juice-extractor comb or a cutting blade. An additional auxiliary load, which loads the rotor when it is on no-load, in the manner of a friction brake is provided on the drive device, which auxiliary load damps the oscillating movements of the single-phase synchronous motor, even when it is on no-load. <IMAGE>
