<p>A blowing agent composition is provided comprising:
<UnorderedLists id="ula01" listStyle="none"><ListItem>(a) zinc formate, and</ListItem><ListItem>(b) a compound having the formula M<Sub>m</Sub>X, wherein M is sodium or potassium; X is chlorine, bromine, iodine, C0<Sub>3</Sub>, HC0<Sub>3</Sub>, SO<Sub>4</Sub>, S0<Sub>3</Sub>, S<Sub>2</Sub>O<Sub>3</Sub>, NO<Sub>2</Sub>, SCN, OCN, BO<Sub>2</Sub>, HBO<Sub>3</Sub>, HPO<Sub>4</Sub>, PO<Sub>4</Sub> or H<Sub>2</Sub>OP<Sub>4</Sub>, and m is an integer representing the valence of X; or a compound having the formula M<Sup>1</Sup><Sub>n</Sub> Rp, wherein M<Sup>1</Sup> is alkali metal, calcium, lead or zinc, R is organic mono-or polybasic acid having 1-18 carbon atoms and from 0 to 2 nitrogen atoms, or a benzenesulfonyl or toluenesulfony radical; and n and p are integers representing the valences of R and M<Sup>1</Sup>, respectively or whole fractions thereof.</ListItem></UnorderedLists></p><p>A polymer composition including the blowing agent and a method of making a foamed polymer are also described.</p> |
