1,227,499. Cleaning dust-laden gases. HOESCH A.G. 14 July, 1969 [12 July, 1968], No. 35412/69. Heading B1R. Hot dust-laden gases are sprayed in a chamber 1 to saturate the gas which is then passed through a restricted flow passage into a separator, the gas as it enters the restricted flow passage being injected with steam from a nozzle 12. As shown the restricted flow passage is a venturi-tube and the separator a cyclone separator and the gases leaving the venturi-tube are sprayed counter-currently with Water from a nozzle 41. In the case of very hot gases, such as those from a blast furnace, the gases are first passed through a wasteheat boiler and steam therefrom is fed to the nozzle 12. In modifications the restricted flow passage may be an orificed plate or a tube with an axially aligned double-cone baffle. The baffle may be movable and the tube may have the form of a venturi-tube or have a divergent portion. The steam may be supplied through a ring of nozzles and the water spray(s) following the restricted flow passage may be at an angle to the gas flow path.
|
