PURPOSE:To reduce the lowering of temperature and the starting voltage of discharge by surrounding a phosphor discharge tube, which is bent into a nearly U-shape while making said bent face into the luminous display part, by an envelope, which has an irradiation opening in the front while being molded out of a metal material. CONSTITUTION:Both base parts of a phosphor discharge tube 1, which is bent into a nearly U-shape while making said bent face into the luminous display part 2, are connected and fixed to a base 3. Further, the surroundings thereof are surrounded by an envelope 4, whose frontal irradiation part 5 is faced to the luminous display part 2, while a translucent cover 6 being fixed on it holding waterproofness and formed by press molding of alminium or zinc die-casting, and the lower end part thereof is fixed to the base 3 for forming a display element. Said display elements are used for a lighting display board or the like while being engaged and fixed in numbers at the fixing part 4a. Accordingly, the envelope 4 is made of a metal material for heightening thermal emissivity and lowering temperature while making the envelope 4 to operate as a near-by conductor for lowering the discharge starting voltage. |
