<p>Workpiece motion control system, specifically for sewing machine contour stitching, comprises an adjustable-contour template with multiple supports displaceably secured next to one another, and parallel, on a base plate. Each support mounts a carrier for a flexible contour-defining tape engaged by a follower roller, and also a gear segment which coacts with adjacent segments to form a toothed rack engaged by a pinion on the same shaft as the follower roller. Specifically the follower roller is pressed against the tape by a gravity wt. and the gear segments are slidably spring-urged against the pinion. Non-slip travel of follower roller along contour tape is achieved, due to the rack and pinion.</p> |
