PURPOSE:To make insert editing possible without disturbing reproducing synchronism of video by allowing a control circuit to connect heads to a recording circuit means when heads run on a part, where video signals are recorded, of tracks at least and allowing the control circuit to connect heads to a tracking means when heads run on the other parts. CONSTITUTION:Two magnetic heads 110A and 110B are set to a rotary head drum 108 as shown in figure. Magnetic heads 110A and 110B are wide band magnetic heads to record mainly pilot signals, video signal, audio signals, PCM signals, etc. on a video area 28 and a data area 24 and reproduce them and are arranged with a phase difference of 180 deg. practically. A mode control circuit 126 controls changeover contacts SW1 and SW2 so that they are connected to the side of terminals A in a normal reproducing mode and are connected to the side of terminals B in a normal recording mode. In an insert mode, changeover contacts SW1 and SW2 are switched in accordance with RF switching pulses so that one of them is connected to the side of the terminal A and the other is connected to the side of the terminal B. |
