A ferroresonant power supply having a relatively stable output voltage includes a magnetic element having a saturating core (20) and a winding (22) thereon. A magnetizing current is developed by a source (23) of high frequency voltage for generating alternating magnetic flux in the core (20) so as to develop an alternating output voltage (V out). A capacitor (26) develops a circulating current that generates in a core section associated with the winding magnetic flux that aids in saturating the core section to provide regulation of the output voltage by ferroresonant action. In order to temperature stabilize the output voltage, the saturating core section is formed of a ferrospinel comprising a lithium ferrite or a substituted lithium ferrite. The ferrospinel has desirable magnetic properties of a relatively small change in saturation flux density with temperature, and low coercivity which results in a relatively small temperature rise in the saturating element. The ferroresonant power supply may be used to generate an ultor voltage for a picture tube in a television receiver. <IMAGE> |
