A device for the automatic adjustment, especially for opening and closing, of preferably pivotably mounted elements, such as, for example, window wings, has a setting element (1, 2, 3, 4) having a member (1) which varies its dimensions as a function of temperature. In order to make a device of this type as simple and reliable as possible, the member (1) is a member changing its longitudinal dimensions as a function of temperature and consisting of a bimetal or of a memory metal.
