The invention relates to a device for positive yarn delivery, especially for knitting machines, with a rotatable storage drum, on which the yarn can be wound in a yarn supply and can be drawn off again via one edge of the storage drum, with a yarn-leading element arranged in a stationary manner underneath the edge and outside the edge contour in a mid-plane containing the axis of rotation of the storage drum, with a yarn-guide element arranged in the yarn running path between the edge and the yarn-leading element and having a yarn-guide edge, and with a stop-motion sensor element which is located, with a web extending parallel to a tangent to the edge and transversely to the yarn running direction, on the yarn between the yarn-guide edge and the yarn-leading element and which is pivotable by means of a prestressing force. In a known yarn-delivery device, the yarn-guide element involves a high outlay in terms of construction, and the yarn is treated in an undesirably rough manner in specific operating states. This is avoided, according to the invention, in that the yarn-guide edge runs approximately rectilinearly and parallel to the web, extends with its end beyond the mid-plane and is lengthened by a yarn-supporting edge which is located behind the mid-plane and gradually moves back and which runs in a direction parallel to the edge plane or pointing obliquely away from the latter.
