A device for the displaceable fastening of a mast foot to a sailboard, with a mast rail connected to the sailboard and a self-locking mast-foot slide displaceable on this rail, characterised in that the foot point of the mast is not attached above the centre line of the mast rail but laterally next to it so that, in combination with suitable shaping of the slide and mast-rail edges, desired initial tilting and self-locking of the slide occurs like a screw-clamp arrangement by a force exerted on the slide by the mast foot. The action of this arrangement of a mast-foot slide and mast foot is further improved according to the invention by devices for producing defined non-locking friction in the rail, as a result of which the initial tilting reliably occurs and self-adjustment is avoided. The aim of the invention is particular simplicity and reliability, even in the face of trouble caused by sand.
