<p>@ A tool holder (11) has a pocket formed therein into which a cutting insert (12) is mounted by a clamp (13) and fastening means (14). The cutting insert (12) has a wedge shaped recess which extends from the outside face of the insert (12) to the upper surface. The clamp includes two leg portions, the first leg portion (25) being retained in a recess (27) formed in the tool holder (11) and the second leg portion being inserted in and complementary to the wedge shaped recess of the insert (12). Initial and secondary restraining forces are exerted on the insert (12) when the clamp (13) is fastened to the tool holder (11).</p> |
