PURPOSE:To heighten the speed of oxygen gas absorption reaction through the negative pole plates by forming separators of porous bodies arranged on the surfaces of the negative pole plates and the nonwoven fabrics made of synthetic resin having the large electrolyte holding capacity arranged on the positive pole plates. CONSTITUTION:The positive pole plates 1 and the negative pole plates 2 are laminated throught the porous bodies 4 made of synthetic resin such as polyamide or the like and the separators 3 formed of nonwoven fabrics 5 of polyamide or the like having the large electrolyte holding capacity in order to form a power generating element. Further, while arranging the porous bodies 4 of the separators 3 on the surfaces of the negative pole plates 2 and the nonwoven fabrics 5 on the surfaces of the positive pole plates 1, the share of the whole hole occupying area in the porous body area of the porous bodies 4 is made to be in the range of 50-85% while housing said power generating element into an angular container 6 for forming an angular alkaline storage battery. Accordingly, the deformation of the container and the electrolyte leakage can be speeding up the oxygen gas absorptive reaction without coating the surfaces of the negative poles 2 with electrolyte. |
