NEW MATERIAL:The thiol protease-inhibiting substance [molecular weight, 10,000(by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis); appearance, white amorphous powder; stable at 4-10pH; thermal stability, stable at 60 deg.C for 1hr; inhibition spectrum, completely inhibits the activity of thiol protease such as ficin, papain, etc. and little inhibits the bromelain activity and the activity of serine protease such as trypsin, etc.]. USE:Remedy for inflammation, renal hypertension, muscular dystrophy, SLE, etc. in which thiol protease is participating. PREPARATION:Human tumor cells and normal human cells are homogenized in the presence of an aqueous solvent and extracted by maintaining at a proper temperature for a proper time, and the obtained extract or the culture liquid of the above cell is subjected to the concentration, dialysis, etc. The product is treated with a proper combination of an adsorbent, a polar organic solvent, salting-out, etc. to obtain the objective thiol protease-inhibiting substance. |
