Chlorobrominated polyhydroxylated compounds, of formula: <IMAGE> R' being H, CH3 or CH2-CH3, with: a between 1 and 2, b between 0 and 2, c between 1 and 2, R being the residue of a polyhydric alcohol with a molecular weight lower than 250 or of a mixture of polyhydric alcohols such that it has an average molecular weight lower than 250, the average functionality per mole of alcohol or of mixture being lower than 4. These compounds are obtained by bromination of a chlorinated unsaturated polyol obtained by reaction of allyl glycidyl ether and epichlorohydrin with a polyol. This polyol is particularly suited for the manufacture of fire-resistant polyurethane chromes.
