PRODUCTION OF L-AMINO ACIDS USING REARRANGEMENT TECHNIQUE

A process for preparing an L-amino acid which comprises reacting the corresponding alpha -keto acid with ammonia, in the presence of a compatible source of reducing equivalents, and in the presence of a recombinant microorganism transformed with at least one recombinant expression vector encoding one or more enzymes useful in the process and which enzymes are selected from the group consisting of dehydrogenase and transaminase enzymes of suitable specificity.
