PURPOSE:To obtain an external material for a timepiece assuming a purple color mixed optionally with other color by forming a film contg. Au and Al as principal components on a base metal or a sintered hard alloy. CONSTITUTION:A film contg. Au and Al as principal components are formed directly or indirectly on a base metal or a sintered hard alloy such as stainless steel, a Cu alloy or Ti by plating or other method. An external material for a timepiece assuming a purple color mixed optionally with other color is obtd. in a desired shape. The surface of the material is hardly scratched.
