PURPOSE:To easily adjust the positions of plural readout sensors with accuracy by arraying marks outside of the scanning range of an original placing platen, and adjusting the positions of plural readout sensors in a main scanning direction automatically on the basis of signal obtained by reading the marks. CONSTITUTION:An original 2 is placed on an original platen 1 of an image reader with its image downward, and this original 2 is irradiated with light from a light source device 4. This light source device 4 is controlled by a scanning unit 3, which is moved in an Y direction to scan the image on the original 2. Further, reflected light from the original 2 is passed through reflecting mirrors 5a-5c to form images on image pickup lenses 6 and 6', and the images are applied to CCDs 7 and 7'. Marks 8 and 8' are arranged in an array outside of the scanning range of the platen 2 and read by the CCDs 7 and 7' to adjust the positions of the CCDs 7 and 7' in the main scanning direction X automatically and electrically with the readout signals of the marks. Then, the positions of the CCDs 7 and 7' are adjusted accurately and easily. |
