PURPOSE:To prevent stains by incorporating a magenta coupler and silver halide grains sensitized with a sensitizing dye in a silver halide emulsion layer and coating a support having a spectral reflectance in specified wavelengths with this emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide emulsion contains the magenta coupler repre sented by formula I, Z being a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form an N-contg. hetero ring, and X being H or a group to be released by the cou pling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent, and silver halide grains having an average particle diameter of 0.35-0.55mum sensi tized with a sensitizing dye represented by formula II in which Za, Zb are each benzene or naphthalene; Ra, Rb are each alkyl, alkenyl, or aryl; Rc is H or alkyl; X1<-> is an anion; and n is 0 or 1. This emulsion is applied to a polyethylene-coated paper having an average spectral reflectance of >=75% in the wavelength region of 520-580nm, thus permitting the obtained photo graphic sensitive material to be prevented from stains due to wet heat and light, and improved in sharpness. |
