PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of chatter marks by allowing a backup roll located at the downstream side of work rolls arranged zigzag to function as a deflector roll for holding a material to be straightened at the outlet side of a work roll on the downstream side. CONSTITUTION:A backup roll 24 located at the most downstream side of the backup rolls of the 1st unit 1 functions also as a deflector roll for pressing a strip 5 at the downstream side of a work roll 9 of the 2nd unit 2. Because the work rolls 6, 9 are arranged in series, the capability of extending the strip 5 is kept high. Further, because the roll 24 presses the position near the work roll 9 at the outlet side of the roll 9 on the downstream side, the variation of curvature of the strip 5 is restrained, and the generation of chatter mark is prevented. |
