<p>PURPOSE:To improve an electromagnetic characteristic, durability, etc. by incorporating carbon black having specific grain size and hardness and inorg. compd. into a specific thermosetting back layer or radiation curable back layer formed on the rear of a base film on which a thin magnetic metallic layer is formed. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting layer or radiation curable layer contg. a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/vinyl alcohol copolymer, polyurethane prepolymer and polyisocyanate or further added with nitrocellulose thereto is formed as a back layer of a magnetic recording medium formed with a thin magnetic metallic layer on the surface of a plastic film base. Carbon black having 10-150mmu average particle size in electron microscopic view and powder of inorg. compd. having <=6 Mohs hardness and 10-500mm. grain size are uniformly dispersed at 1:9-9:1 ratio in the cured layer and the layer having 0.05-0.4mu surface roughness is formed. The medium having a good winding style, running characteristic, etc. is thus obtd.</p> |
