PURPOSE:To recognize ON and OFF of a segment without errors by the light transmitted through a liquid crystal cell, by providing the second liquid crystal cell having a shutter effect, which can control the adequacy for receiving of external light at an external-light receiving opening at the back surface of a main body case. CONSTITUTION:An opening 28 for display is provided at the front surface of a main body case 26. An opening 30 for receiving external light is provided at the back surface thereof. A first liquid cell 32 for displaying pictures is provided so as to face the opening 28 of the main body case 26. A second liquid crystal 34 for controlling the receiving of the external light is provided so as to face the opening 30. At the upper and lower surfaces of the inside of the main body case 26, circuit substrates 40 having liquid-crystal driving circuits 38, which control illuminating light sources 36 and the liquid crystal cells 32 and 34, are provided. With respect to the second liquid crystal cell 34, a liquid crystal 34c is sealed by a sealing agent 34d between glass plates 34a and 34b. Electrodes are provided on the entire surfaces of the glass 34a and 34b, and a shutter function is provided. |
