Filter support belt for a continuously operating filter press as in NL 6910067 has sections provided with discharge devices and hinged to each other, each section having drainage grooves running in the transport direction and acting as discharge devices, closed at the rear and reviewed in the direction of transport and open at the leading edge and towards the near side of the at the leading edge and towards the near side of the device. Leading edges of the ridges separating the drainage grooves slope forwardly and away from the filter surface and cooperate with a correspondingly inclined rear strip of the foregoing branch running transversely to the direction of transport in such a way that the front ends of the ridges lie close to the strip closing the drainage grooves when the filter support belt is stretched, so as to form slots tapering towards the outside of the support belt. Discharge channels are provided on the back of the part of each section which carries the drainage grooves into which the discharge surface of the rear closure strip opens widening out towards the rear end of the section and tapering at their front end, whilst having pipe extension pieces which project into the wide end of the discharge channel of the next succeeding section.
