PURPOSE:To perform machining of random shape with a general cutter, by tracing the profile at the side of work previously then correcting on the basis of cross-section data obtained from the profile measuring data and obtaining the coordinates data for every measuring point. CONSTITUTION:A work 1 is set in a tracer TRE then a stylus 3 is moved along the side by means of X, Y axis drive mechanisms 5e, 5f while a processor 7a will produce NC data and store into a memory 7e. Thereafter, the work 1 is set in working machine SCE where the processor 7a will read out the cross-section data and measuring position data from the memory 7e to correct the measuring position data. Then the position data at the splitting point is operated while at the corner section, coordinate rotary operation is performed to obtain movement in each axis, and the ball end mill 4 is moved along the cross-section of splitting point against the work 1 to perform machining. This operation is repeated to machine into desired cross-section. Consequently, the side can be machined into various cross-section by means of general ball end mill. |
