摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent a trouble by enabling automatic adjustment of the space between the printing surface of a printing paper and the print head tip varying according to the thickness of the printing paper mounted on a platen as previously specified. CONSTITUTION:A drive motor 9 rotates by a fixed value according to a signal from a control section immediately before the start of printing and one-way clutch 6 mounted on a rotating shaft 3 rotates counterclockwise. The rotating shaft 3 rotates counterclockwise by the force of a spring 11 to turn a carriage 1 counterclockwise to bring a paper thickness detection member 5 into contact with the printing paper 14. Then, with the reversion of the drive motor 9, the one-way clutch 6 turns clockwise and the rotating shaft 3 rotates clockwise to turn the carriage 1 clockwise to separate the paper thickness detection member 5 from the printing paper 14. Here, the space between the printing surface of the printing paper 14 and the tip of a print head 15 carried on the carriage 1 always becomes constant regardless of the thickness of the printing paper.
