PURPOSE:To make high-speed transmission possible by making it possible to not only transmit data in various transmission speeds but also communicate between terminals without passing a control part of a communication control part. CONSTITUTION:A communication controller (m) which receives a control signal from a terminal controller m' transmits a data transmission request packet to a communication controller (n). When receiving this transmission request packet, the communication controller (n) discriminates whether data can be received in a designated transmission speed or not; and if it can be received, the communication controller (n) turns back a packet indicating that data can be received and switches a serial/parallel converting device 8 to the designated transmission speed and switches the output of a demultiplexer 7 to a terminal-side transmitting circuit 6. Meanwhile, when receiving the turned-back packet, the communication controller (m) sets the conversion speed to a prescribed value and switches the input side of a multiplexer 3 to the side of a terminal-side receiving circuit 1 and requests data transfer. |
