PURPOSE:To prevent head crash and to improve durability of a disc by forming a gimbal pressing part of a magnetic head of a shape memory alloy, heating said gimbal pressing part when the disc stops rotating and stopping the heating of the gimbal pressing part when the disc rotates. CONSTITUTION:A gimbal pressing part 12 is formed of a reversible shape memory alloy such as Ni-Ti, Cu-Al-Zn, Cu-Zn-Ga, Ni-Al or Cu-Zn. When a switch for rotaion of a disc is turned off, current flows to a nichrome wire 13 to heat the gimbal pressing part. The gimbal pressing part when heated bends in the direction where a head 11 parts from the disc, thereby maintaining the head in the state of detaching the same from the disc. The wire 13 is cooled after the rotation of the disc 14 is stopped and the part 12 restores the temp. prior to heating thus restoring the memorized state, i.e., the state of bringing the head 11 into contact with the disc. The disc 14 is already in the stop state in this stage and therefore the head 11 contacts with the disc 14 without rubbing the disc. |
