A method of controlling striped smut in an area having infected plants, particularly grass, comprises applying to the area 2, 3, 4, 5, 6- pentachloro-1 -nitrobenzene. Suitable compositions for use in the method are disclosed and comprise conventional adjuvants such as fertilizers, dyes, solvent-sticking agents (e.g. polybutene and hexylene glycol) and fungicides, such as phenyl mercuric acetate and tetramethyl thiuram disulphide. |
