This drive mechanism comprises a geared motor 5 fixed to the ground, whose output shaft 6 carries a connecting rod 7 at the free end 9 of which is articulated a bar 8 connected by its other end to an articulation point 10 located towards the base of the sliding door 1. The horizontal distance between the output shaft 6 and the point 10 is equal to half the useful travel of the door 1. In the open and closed positions, the connecting rod 7 and the bar 8 are substantially aligned. Their lengths are substantially equal and each of them thus corresponds in principle to a quarter of the useful travel of the door. This arrangement, which provides a compact geared motor, of great robustness, turning slowly and lubricated for life, allows a fast movement of the door, with progressive motion at the start and end of the travel, to be obtained. <IMAGE> |
