Central heating hot water thermostatic valve - has screw and toothed segment mechanism combined with spring loaded actuator members

The thermostatic controller for central heating hot water supply lines has an actuator housing (11) mounted on top of the valve housing (14). This has a valve member with a disc pushed down by a spring around its stem against a seating underneath for closure. The actuator includes a sleeve (3) holding the sensitive element (5) with a stem inside an externally threaded sleeve (6) which is forced inwards against a spring (8) when activated. This thread rotates a toothed segment (13) so that as it swings, it pushes the valve stem down to close it. The sleeve (3) fits inside a control knob (12) at the other end which can be turned to force the sleeve back assisted by another spring (10) for adjustment.
