The invention sets out from a bottle closure, in particular for bottles which are provided at their mouth with a pierceable plug and are filled with an infusion liquid or the like. The bottle closure consists of plastic and is of approximately pot-shaped construction. The bottom of the pot has a peripheral cross-sectional weakening which is preferably circular and an integral tear-off loop for inserting a finger and tearing off the central part of the bottom. In order to prevent formations of cracks occurring during injection or during sterilisation, the tear-off loop (8) is connected to the central part (7') via a projection (11) provided with a recess (12). The recess reduces the cross-section (d2) of the projection, specifically preferably to about the thickness (d3) of the non-weakened bottom (7 or 7'). <IMAGE>
