<p>The present invention is directed to a device comprising a screen support carriage, an ink knife support carriage, means mounting the carriages for reciprocating movement along parallel paths, a flat frame, means pivotally mounting the frame for pivotal movement toward and away from the paths about a stationary axis, a mandrel for longitudinally gripping the objects to be printed, the mandrel having a spindle, means mounting the mandrel on the frame for rotation of the spindle about an axis spaced from and parallel to the fixed axis, a first toothed member mounted on the ink knife support carriage for rotation about an axis on the ink knife support carriage and orthogonally fixed to the spindle of the mandrel, means for reciprocating the ink knife support carriage along its path, a second toothed member secured to the screen support carriage and in constant engagement with the first toothed member to drive the screen support carriage in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of the ink knife support carriage by a distance equal to the difference between the arc traversed by a printing receiving surface of the object to be printed and the travel of the ink knife support carriage. The device according to the invention is suitable for silkscreen printing machines in general, especially for printing cylindrical objects having an elliptical cross-section.</p> |
