<p>A compsn. for fire-proofing a wide variety of materials e.g. wood, paper, cotton, synthetic fibres, consists of an aq. soln. contg. >=3 ions which are ammonium, bromide, chloride, ions of zinc and alkaline-earth metals and phosphates. The material can be treated by being immersed in or sprayed with the soln. or moistened e.g. with a sponge impregnated with the soln. The treated material can be dried completely and has practically unaltered appearance. The compsn. is of low price, easy to use, of low toxicity, and can fireproof a wide variety of natural and synthetic materials without noticeably altering their exterior appearance.</p> |
