A float-operated cistern-supply valve has a resilient member 76 movable relative to a seat 42 formed on the end of an inner tubular part 32 of a moulded plastics unit which is secured in an aperture of the cistern and has an outer tubular part 34 extending into a lower valve housing portion 36. A moulded plastics filter member 48 is held in place by an upper valve housing portion 74 having a bayonet fit with the lower portion and clamping an outer periphery of the closure member against the filter member. A float moves on an upright guide 16 and actuates the closure member through an arm (20) and lever 22. Water flows from the inlet through an open valve into chamber 66 from where it passes through slots 54 in the filter member into an outlet chamber 46 connected by a nipple 70 and a flexible hose (24) to a refill tube. Flow from the outlet chamber also passes by way of openings 60 and slots 62 in the filter member and openings 68 in the outer tubular part into the cistern.</p> |
