Process for catalytic alkylation of weakly acidic organic compounds whose pKa is between 28 and 43, according to which process the said compounds are reacted with olefins or conjugated diolefins in the presence of a catalytic quantity of an organopotassium compound RK corresponding to a compound RH whose pKa is higher than or equal to that of the compound to be alkylated and chelated by a chelating tertiary polyamine.
