PURPOSE:To simplify a constitution of a titled isolator, and to obtain it at a low cost by constituting so that an optical transmission medium having a tapered end part of opposed directly to other optical transmission medium, or coupled with other optical transmission line by interposing a lens-shaped medium, etc. CONSTITUTION:Light from an optical fiber 1 whose end part is tapered is propagated in the forward direction through the tapered part, and coupled optically to an optical fiber 2. The diameter of this tapered part is reduced gradually in the propagating direction of the light, and a loss of the light of this part is set to <=several %. The optical fiber 1 having the tapered end part and the other optical fiber 2 are fixed to each other by an adhesive agent 3. In this way, an optical isolator which has a simple structure and is inexpensive can be obtained. |
