The invention is a method for joining pipelines, such as those for oil or gas or other large pipelines, by means of explosive welding. One pipe end (1) is equipped with a flange-shaped part in which the other pipe end (2) is inserted. A powerful clamp (4) is mounted around the pipe joint and the clamp's contact surface against the first pipe end has a profile that corresponds to the profile of the flange-shaped part. Explosive cladding of the two pipe ends is then carried out with the help of an inner ring-shaped explosive charge (3), whereby the clamp serves as a counterstay. After explosive cladding, the clamp is removed and transferred to the next joint. The flange-shaped part can either be prefabricated or created through explosive forming in the clamp in a step prior to the explosive cladding.<IMAGE> |
