The device has at least two detecting devices (6,8,10) of different physical natures that can be arranged about the finger of the hand and send periodical digital pulses. The output signals from the detecting devices are processed separately and/or together in a multiplexing unit(15). The multiplexing unit is connected through a data bus (19) to devices (16,16a,17) for providing a display, recording or auditory record of the signals representative of cardiac frequency and rhythm. The multiplexing unit operates through another data bus (23), linked to a selector member (20) of one of the detecting devices in accordance with the output signals from the detecting device.
