In a method for operating an aircraft cooling system (10) a cooling medium is guided through a cooling circuit (16), which is connected to a refrigerating machine (12) and to at least one cooling station (20) associated with a cooling energy consumer (14), to supply cooling medium cooled by the refrigerating (12) to the cooling station (20). A temperature of the cooling medium upstream of the cooling station (20) and a temperature of the cooling medium downstream of the cooling station (20) are detected. The mass flow of cooling medium supplied to the cooling station (20) is controlled in dependence on a thermal output of the cooling energy consumer (14) and in dependence on a difference between the temperature of the cooling medium upstream of the cooling station (20) and the temperature of the cooling medium downstream of the cooling station (20).
