PURPOSE:To finely polish a crystallized glass by setting the crystallized glass and a lapping machine made of soft metal in the polishing liquid in which fine diamond powder is suspended in pure water and setting the both into relative revolution under applying a lapping load. CONSTITUTION:The polishing liquid is the pure water in which the fine diamond powder having a particle size of 1,000Angstrom or less is suspended in 0.01-1.0wt%, and a soft metal having a micro-Vickers hardness of 3-15kg/cm<2> is used for a lapping machine. A crystallized glass to be polished and the lapping machine are set oppositely in the polishing liquid, and polishing is carried-out through relative revolution, applying a lapping load of 0.03-5kg/cm<2>. Then, the fine diamond powder is uniformly buried into the soft metal of the lapping machine, and therefore, the surface to be polished is finely polished by the grinding action of the fine diamond powder. |
