The invention relates to a component consisting of a hollow body, which can be sealed air-tight and vapour-tight by walls and rigid or flexible sealing bodies, for the purpose of using propellants (or heating gases) of high detonating violence, for example hydrogen and oxygen, whose explosive forces are regulated as required by the addition of chemically unreactive materials, for example nitrogen. According to the invention, the required hydrogen is released from a catalytic bonding (for example in magnesium hydroxide) by heat and introduced in predetermined units into the explosion chamber, for example by means of a roller with transverse bores. The rate of the gases can here be selectively altered by means of switches, levers, pedals or the like. The storage elements reversibly loaded with propellant (for example hydrogen) are passed by means of transport belts to a heat chamber and "discharged" therein. This propellant is then fed to the explosion chamber.
