A driver circuit for a fluorescent display device is described which is suitable for transmitting a display signal (S) during a display blanking period in a simple manner and for achieving a larger operating phase. The driver circuit contains a buffer memory (11, 12, 13) forming a first stage, for storing a display signal (S) which is subsequently displayed during the display period and for transmitting the stored display signal to the next stage during the next display blanking period, and a buffer memory (21, 22, 23) forming a second stage, which is supplied with the display signal transmitted from the buffer memory forming the first stage and which supplies the display signal to the anodes (a) of adjoining columns which are arranged oppositely to two selected control electrodes (G). <IMAGE>
