A device for fixing ceramic planar elements (3) to a substrate by means of a carrier (1), the profiles (4) provided on the back of the ceramic planar element being shaped from the ceramic material of the planar element and being formed in one piece therewith, and the counterprofiles (2, 5) of the carrier (1) comprising elastically deformable material. This achieves simple laying of the ceramic planar elements with the possibility of easy replacement at any time.
