PURPOSE:To increase utilization ratio of anode active material and safety of a battery by impregnating sodium in metal fibers filled in a metal container, and filling metal fibers in a space between the container and a solid electrolyte due to form an anode chamber. CONSTITUTION:A hole B through which molten sodium passes is installed in a lower cover 13'' of a metal container 13 such as stainless steel container and metal fibers 19 which are resistant to molten sodium are filled in the container. Metal fibers 14 are filled in a space formed between the outer surface of the container 13 and solid electrolyte. A specified amount of molten sodium 6 is filled in the container from an anode pipe 8 by vacuum impregnation process, and after cooling, the pipe 8 is closed in a vacuum. This sodium-sulfur battery features easy supply of sodium and high safety. |
