The plastic dowel body (1) has two expanding limbs (1c, 1d) which are formed by a longitudinal slot (1b) and can be deformed independently of one another. A recess (1a), which is arranged centrally in the rearward region, for an expanding element (3) runs, partially eccentrically, in the region of the expanding limbs (2c, 2d). The two expanding limbs (2c, 2d) are curved in the dowel longitudinal direction towards two mutually opposite sides. The recess halves (2e, 2f) run in a straight line in the expanding limbs (2c, 2d). When the dowel body (1) is inserted into a drilled hole, the two expanding limbs (1c, 1d) must be displaced with respect to one another. The expanding limbs (2c, 2d) are in turn driven apart from one another, in two mutually opposite directions, by the driving in of the expanding element (3). <IMAGE>
