NEW MATERIAL:The bovine serum albumin-originated peptide of formula (the numbers represent the amino acid order of bovine serum albumin) and its salt. USE:Remedy for diabetes, especially a drug exhibiting insulinactivity promotion action effective for the remedy of the II type diabetes (insulin-independent diabetes). PREPARATION:The peptide of formula is prepared by treating a bovine serum albumin with one or more enzymes selected from trypsin, acrosin, koknase and E.coli protease II to incise the peptide bond at a specific site. The peptide can be used as the above drug as it is, and when used together with insulin, it reduces the amount of insulin. Furthermore, the peptide prevents the insulin shock and the development of insulin resistance caused by the production of insulin antibody occuring sometimes in th administration of insulin for a long period or at a high dose. |
