PURPOSE:To widen a dynamic range with high sensitivity and high accuracy, by detecting magnetic flux by using a polarization plane maintaining optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:Beam from a light source 1 is subjected to linear polarization by a polarizer 2 and incident on a polarization plane maintaining optical fiber 5 while transmitted by a beam splitter 3. Emitted beam from the polarization plane maintaining optical fiber 5 reaches a condensing lens 9 through a collimating lens 46. On the other hand, reflected beam from the splitter 3 directly reaches the lens 9. Therefore, interference of two beams is generated in the splitter 3 but the matching of the plane of polarization is taken and the emitting side of the fiber 5 is offset so as not to overlap two beams to obtain Young interference fringe. The interference beam condensed by the lens 9 passes a charge coupled device array 10 and a calculation processing part 11 to send out output corresponding to a magnetic field. By this mechanism, a dynamic range can be widened with high sensitivity and high accuracy. |
