PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of a seal and contact of leaked gases by fixing two strings of sealing bodies in a peripheral flange of a manifold and by arranging a duct passing to an outside inactive gas line between the sealing bodies. CONSTITUTION:A manifold 9 is installed on the peripheral side of a fuel cell main body 7 prepared by stacking unit cells and separators, and two strings of sealing bodies 11 and 13 are fixed to a flange 9a. An inactive gas passing duct 14 comprising a suction duct 14b which is opened to the flange surface and a gas supply duct 14a which is passed to the suction duct 14b is formed between sealing bodies 11 and 13. The gas passing duct 14 is connected to an outside inactive gas line. Gas pressure within the duct 14 is slightly reduced than that of reaction gas within the manifold 9. Deterioration of sealing bodies 11 and 13 is prevented by cooling effect which is caused by circulation of inactive gas to the duct 14, and even if reaction gas leaks, it is exhausted. |
