PURPOSE:To perform highly accurate working without replacing the electrode by arranging a work and an electrode model on a table then applying supersonic working onto a graphite electrode through the electrode model thereafter applying electric discharge working onto the work. CONSTITUTION:A work 33 and an electrode model 34 are arranged on the table 32 of electric discharge machine 1. A supersonic wave transmitter 12 is provided at the lower portion of a spindle 8 to transmit supersonic vibration from a supersonic wave oscillator 11 to the electrode 5. Said electrode 5 is composed of graphite and at first said electrode 5 is positioned on the model 34 then applied with supersonic vibration to shape the working face of electrode through supersonic working. Preferably, the model 34 is adhered with abrasive grains 43. After shaping, electric discharge machining is performed and when the machining is repeated by predetermined times to consume the electrode, shaping is performed again. |
