PURPOSE:To prevent whitening due to pinholes and background stains by selectively collecting secondary agglomerating particles of a pigment, etc. generating in a liquid dispersion of an org. photosensitive material by electrophoresis, and spreading said dispersion uniformly on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:A concentric circular container of the liquid dispersion of an org. photosensitive material, a shielding member 20, and a counter electrode 3 are arranged around a cylindrical conductive substrate 1, and the substrate 1 is relatively moved upward while bias voltage is applied between the dispersion 4 and the electrode 3, to spread the dispersion 4 on the surface of the substrate 1 and form an org. photosensitive drum. Secondary agglomerating particles contained in the dispersion 4 are electrophoretically migrated toward the grounded side of the electrode 3 by the electric field gradient between the substrate 1 and the electrode 3 and attracted and collected to the electrode 3. Since said agglomerates causing pinholes, etc. are not contained in the dispersion 4 to be spread on the surface of the substrate 1, whitening and background stains can be prevented, and an electrophotographic sensitive drum uniform in thickness and smooth on the surface can be obtained, thus permitting formation of a sharp image. |
