Highly hygroscopic choline salicylate forms a stable solid composition when it is mixed with the salicylate of at least one physiologically tolerated metal which is at least divalent. The mixture preferably also contains a carboxy-lower-alkylcellulose. When this preferred mixture is left to stand in aqueous solution there is formation of a complex which displays excellent storage stability in solid form. The mixtures, as well as the complex, can be processed to solid pharmaceutical unit doses.
